Directors receive Freedom of the City of London

Two Directors of Cloud Media Insight have become Freemen of the City of London.

Brian Moore and Matthew West, who were eligible to apply for the freedom due to their long-term association with the Guild of Public Relations Practitioners, were joined by family and friends at the prestgious ceremony held at the city’s Guildhall.

Dating back to 1237, the Freedom of the City of London is one of the oldest surviving traditional ceremonies in existence and originally enabled recipents to carry out their trade in the Square Mile. Nowadays it has a more ceremonial meaning and is presented to individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the City. Previous recipients include Princess Diana, Nelson Mandela and Winston Churchill.

Brian Moore, who was Master of the Guild of Public Relations Practitioners from 2011-2012, said: “It’s been a privilege to be involved with the Guild for over 20 years and a great honour to be awarded with the Freedom of the City of London, especially when you look at the list of other recipients over the years! It was a truly fantastic day that i’ll never forget.”

Matthew added: “We’re delighted to have taken part in such a unique and historic ceremony. However, I don’t think we’ll be taking advantage of some of the more traditional privileges associated with being a Freeman such as taking a flock of sheep over London Bridge!”
